ECC 3's Blog

The character building trait of the month is: Patience.

This week's letter is "Hh" for house. Please help your child brainstorm words for each of our weekly letters. As a wrap up from Valentine's Day and talking about hearts, we listened to our hearts with a stethascope, talked about what it sounds like and how it beats faster or slower depending on what we are doing.
For the next two weeks we are talking about building things, the Three Little Pigs and discussed how the pigs had to build their own houses. We made a prediction on which house we thought would be the strongest and charted it. When we finished reading we discussed how our theory was correct and why it was correct. At playground time, we took a nature walk and collected sticks and straw to use when we "build" our pig houses. The children are also playing "The Three Pigs" on the playground. We also asked the kids what kind of house they thought the wolf would live in and will be making a wolf house based on the majority decision. They decided that he would live in a "pig house" and that it would be pink like a pig. We are comparing the sticks we collected with popsicle sticks and charting these things. And for science we are going to talk about what colors can be mixed to make pink.

Housekeeping is now a post office. If you have any un-needed envelopes, stampers or anything else you would like to donate, we would be happy to use it.

Our caterpillars have all spun into their chrysalis'. We are watching them everyday and have estimated that the first one will hatch on or around next Thursday, the 23rd.

February is Dental Health Month. We have the dentist coming Tuesday, Feb. 21st.

Monday Feb. 20th we have NO SCHOOL - President's Day

If your child naps at school, and has an accident, please wash and return the cot sheet(s) ASAP. We have been running out of extra cot sheets by mid-week.

We are in dire need of scrap paper for our art center in our classroom. If anyone has any from work - it can be printed on one side - please feel free to donate it to our classroom.

Please pack the necessary utensils for your child's lunch.

Thank you so much!
